Vitamin C in Fruit and Veggies


Vitamin C cures scurvy, which is a deadly disease if left untreated. Most fruit and vegetables contain Vitamin C so I have made a list of the fruit and veggies that are rich in vitamin C as well as their other health benefits. Vitamin C is necessary for the absorption of iron. It is also an antioxidant that neutralizes free radicals in your body.

Broccoli

Broccoli contains vitamin C and beta-carotene, important antioxidants that have been linked to a reduced risk of heart disease, cancer, arthritis and other diseases. Broccoli is high in fiber, which prevent constipation. Broccoli contains a high amount of potassium, that help maintain a healthy heart and regulates blood pressure. The magnesium and calcium in broccoli is important for bone health and to prevent osteoporosis. It also has vitamin K, which keeps the brain healthy. 

Cabbage
Cabbage is an excellent source of vitamin c and contains phyto nutrients known to lower the risk of many types of cancer and improve digestion. It also triggers the release of enzymes that expel harmful toxins and help to lower cholesterol. 

Guava
Guava is very high in fiber and rich in vitamins A, B, and C, proteins and minerals such as potassium. Guava contains astringents,  which are alkaline in nature and have anti-bacterial properties. Guavas are rich in lycopene, a powerful antioxidant which research has shown is successful in reducing prostate cancer risk. It also protects against breast cancer. High levels of vitamin C protect the cells from damage by free radicals in the body which cause disease, viral infections etc. Guava is rich in vitamin A, which assists with good vision. Also keeps skin healthy and prevents wrinkles and aging of the skin. Guava contains B3 and B6, which increase brain function.



Granadilla
Granadillas are rich in Vitamin C and keeps the immune system strong.  It also has anti-fungal qualities and iron, which relieves anemia. High levels of vitamin C protect the cells from damage by free radicals in the body which cause diseases, viral infections etc. Guava is rich in vitamin A, which assists with good vision. Also keeps skin healthy and prevents wrinkles and aging of the skin. Guava contains B3 and B6, which increase brain function.


Onions
Onions are rich in vitamin C, B6, B1 and K and folic acid. They have anti-fungal and antibacterial properties. Onions may be used to reduce inflammation and heal infections. Raw onion encourages good cholesterol. They also contain flavonoids, these compounds act as anti-oxidants, and have an anti-tumor effect and immune boosting properties.




Oranges
This fruit has a high amount of vitamin C. Vitamin A in oranges promotes good vision. Oranges also has anti-viral and anti-cancer properties.
